Biological Indicators are the gold standard for monitoring the adequacy of sterilization processes. Biological Indicators are carrier systems that hold highly resistant bacterial spores (usually Geobacillus stearothermophilus or Bacillus atrophies). The spores become inactivated, and when subsequently assessed for growth or no-growth, the results confirm the efficacy of the sterilization process under pharmaceutical, laboratory, hospital, or cleanroom validation conditions.
